Ways to Donate

Cash Donation

The most popular way to support the mission; donations of cash may be made by:

  • check payable to “The Counterterrorism Institute” Mailed to 535 Fifth Avenue, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10017; or
  • one-time or recurring secure online donations with a credit card, PayPal account, or bank transfer at this link.
Endowed Fellowships

The Counterterrorism Institute’s Fellows Programs is the front line of educating and empowering the future of counterterrorism. Whether our Junior Fellows Program, our post-baccalaureate Operations Fellowship, or our post-doctoral Legal Policy Fellowship, the opportunity to engage, motivate, and properly equip these future leaders is unmatched. Through your generous donation, you can choose to endow a Fellowship; thereby providing a long-lasting and positive impact on the fight against terrorism. For more information, or to establish an Endowed Fellowship in your name or in the name of someone you choose, please contact the Development Team via the contact form on this page, or by email at development@ctinstitute.org

Appreciated Securities

You may choose to support the mission through the transfer of appreciated securities such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds. Such a donation is generally tax deductible at the value of the appreciated security, and is an excellent way to avoid capital gains tax. For more information, or to schedule a transfer, please contact the Development Team through the contact link on this page, or at development@ctinstitute.org

Charitable Bequests

A charitable bequest in your will is one of the several means of leaving a lasting legacy of support for The Counterterrorism Institute’s mission. In addition to avoiding estate and inheritance taxes on the gift, you also gain the satisfaction of knowing you will make your mark on the fight for freedom and security long into the future. For more information, or to setup a charitable bequest, please contact the Development Team via the contact form on this page or by email at development@ctinstitute.org

Appreciated Property

The Counterterrorism Institute may, on a case by case basis, accept donations of appreciated real property such as real estate, art, collectibles, etc. This means of support helps avoid capital gains taxes while providing a tax deduction on the value of the gift. For more information, or to discuss a gift of appreciated property, please contact the Development Team via the contact form on this page or by email at development@ctinstitute.org

Charitable Gift Annuities

Charitable Gift Annuities allow you to make a significant impact on The Counterterrorism Institute’s long-term mission effectiveness through a gift of cash or property in exchange for a partial tax deduction and an annual income stream (based on actuarial tables) for you and up to one additional beneficiary. Upon the death of the final beneficiary, the remainder of the gift is transferred to The Counterterrorism Institute. For more information, or to establish a Charitable Gift Annuity, please contact the Development Team via the contact form on this page or by email at development@ctinstitute.org

Charitable Remainder Unitrusts

A Charitable Remainder Unitrust is a donation vehicle that allows you to make a lasting legacy gift while still receiving a fixed percentage annual annuity payment (based on the annual value of the trust principle) for either a fixed term of years or until the beneficiary’s death, after which time the remainder is transferred to The Counterterrorism Institute to support its ongoing mission. For more information, or to establish a Charitable Remainder Unitrust, please contact the Development Team via the contact form on this page, or by email at development@ctinstitute.org

Charitable Remainder Annuity Trusts

A Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust provides the opportunity to make a donation of cash, appreciated securities, or property in return for a fixed annual income based on the value of the assets at the time of the donation. At the completion of the term of years, or at the death of the beneficiary, the remainder of the assets are transferred to The Counterterrorism Institute to support its ongoing mission. Unlike a Charitable Remainder Unitrust – which provides an income stream based on a fixed percentage of the variable annual assets in the trust – Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust payments are consistent from the outset. For more information, or to discuss how you can make a lasting impact through a Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust, please contact the Development Team via the contact form on this page, or by email at development@ctinstitute.org

Charitable Lead Trust

Unlike the other types of charitable trusts, a Charitable Lead Trust provides the opportunity to support The Counterterrorism Institute through the establishment of a trust for a specified number of years; following which, the remaining assets are distributed back to your designated beneficiaries (heirs, other charities, etc.). This method is frequently used to reduce estate and probate taxes and is a fantastic way to support the fight against terrorism. For more information, or to discuss setting up a Charitable Lead Trust, please contact the Development Team via the contact form on this page, or by email at development@ctinstitute.org

Life Insurance

Designating The Counterterrorism Institute as a life insurance beneficiary is a great way to make a long-term investment in educating and empowering future counterterrorism leaders. This method of donation generally provides you with tax deductions on premiums paid and dividends assigned. For more information, or to discuss how you might make a gift through a life insurance plan, please contact the Development Team via the contact form on this page, or by email at development@ctinstitute.org

Retirement Accounts

Similar to life insurance donations, you may choose to designate The Counterterrorism Institute as the beneficiary of all or a portion of a retirement account. This generous gift provides proceeds with which the Institute will continue its increasingly-essential mission. For more information, or to discuss making a Retirement Account donation, please contact the Development Team via the contact form on this page, or by email at development@ctinstitute.org
